MORE FROM AIN'T IT COOL NEWS
Fun, fun, fun. This is how I like my horror, you can
guiltlessly scream and laugh at what you're seeing, and I
will happily rewatch this film every Halloween. An anthology
film directed and written by Michael Dougherty, I really
admired how each story touched on the others, and Brian Cox
was a blast to watch. Very recommended. – Nordling

The last movie on my top list was Trick or Treat: a treat
for traditional horror fans everywhere. If you like movies
like Creepshow, this campy but artistically beautiful homage
to the B horror movie, will leave you with a post Halloween
chocoholic satiation and a smile on your face. – Maria

When I heard that the last film was a premiere, I was
overjoyed. When I heard that it was going to be a horror
movie, I was depressed and considered going back to sleep.
And then this started and I decided to give it a chance.
Great movie if you like horror flicks, especially Tales from
the Crypt type, with interlacing stories and a sense of fun
along with the fear.

Thank god for Trick ‘r Treat! First off, the director stayed
for the whole BNAT, so kudos to you sir. But let me tell
you, this is just a wonderfully creepy little film, and if
that button-eyed little bastard Sam (I don't think he is
named in the movie, but that is the name with which the
director referred to him) doesn't become a Halloween icon, I
will be sad. If you like your horror all EC comics/Tales for
the Darkside/Creepshow dark, with nasty people getting nasty
surprises and a sprinkling of gallows humor – then this is
for you, my friend. –Megan Murphy

Set for release next Halloween, this horror anthology with
many interconnected characters and storylines is loads of
fun courtesy of writer and first-time director Michael
Dougherty (who wrote SUPERMAN RETURNS and X2, and sat
through the entire BNAT experience). The Dylan Baker story
in which he plays a school principal who engages in some
sickening pumpkin carving behavior was my personal favorite,
but Brian Cox’s turn as the grumpy old man taunted by a
creepy kid in a costume that strikes him as a bit too
familiar is also extremely fun. The scariest story involves
a groups of kids going to what they claim is a haunted
quarry. It’s good to know that next October at least one
decent scare film will be making the rounds. Dougherty’s Q&A
after the screening was also loads of fun.
